The highest population of rainbow trout arrives in the months of November, December, January and February. This is a very appropriate season for wade fishing and small equipment (4, 5 and 6) with float lines, dry flies or nymphs. Float fishing in this river is really impressive due to the extreme power of rainbows and their explosive bites on the surface.

Fishing days may be spent at the accommodations in Piedra del Aguila, or by organizing fishing & camping excursions. Camping is a good option since fishermen may spend the whole day at the fishing place, being in contact with campfires, the river and peaceful nights.

In February you may start to try with more powerful equipment and tempt the migratory brown species. Some of them begin to move upriver, and show their typical silver color and athletic shape.

At this moment the most advantageous type is amnesia shooting since it provides distance when shooting and gains depth quickly.

During March, April and May, rainbow species can also be found in good sizes; brown ones already begin to acquire their usual colors, become more aggressive and prefer well-cast and tidily-tied flies. This is what we call professional fishing. Perhaps, three bites may be obtained in only one day, but no mistakes can be made since they do not give another chance.
